NEW YORK: ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s permanent representative to the UN has affirmed the Kingdom’s determination to take all measures to protect children in the Yemeni conflict.
Abdallah Al-Mouallimi said ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is working with the coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government to form a child protection unit in coordination with the UN.
He expressed Saudi support for the UN’s mission to protect children in armed conflicts, and condemned the deliberate killing, wounding, arbitrary detention and torture of Palestinian children by Israeli occupation forces.
Al-Mouallimi said Iran’s support for sectarian militias in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen is an example of the deliberate abuse of children. He added that Tehran indoctrinates and arms children.
He affirmed the coalition’s commitment to cooperate fully with the UN and Yemeni authorities in order to rehabilitate Yemeni children recruited by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.Â
