LONDON: The Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi militias in Yemen said Saturday that aÌýHouthi attempt to attack fishing vesselsÌýin the Red Sea has been thwarted.Ìý

Boats belonging to Houthi militia were captured with rocket-propelled grenades and missiles on board, the coalition said.Ìý

The coalition addedÌýthat sixÌýships are currently unloading their cargo inÌýthe port of Hodeidah and eightÌýothers are waiting to enter it.Ìý

A Turkish ship that was earlierÌýattacked byÌýHouthi militiaÌýhas entered Salif Port in order to unload its cargo. It was repaired in the port of Jazan, the coalition reported.ÌýÌý

On Friday, the Saudi-led military coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen saidÌýit would welcome a political deal to end the conflict but indicated it would keep insisting on a complete withdrawal by the Houthis from territory seized since 2014.

The statement from the alliance came after UN Yemen envoy Martin Griffiths said he hoped to get the warring parties to the negotiating table in the next few weeks to end fighting at the port city of Hodeidah, a lifeline for Yemen. The United Nations hopes a breakthrough at Hodeidah could lead to a wider solution to the three-year-old conflict.Ìý
