RIYADH: EA Sports has announced the launch of the first-ever Ramadan tournament, set to take place during the holy month from March 18 to 29.

The EA Sports FC Ramadan Tournament will be organized by Zawaya Gaming and powered by Pepsi with support from the Saudi eSports Federation.

The event will feature two parallel knockout tournaments: one for EA Sports FC 24 on PlayStation 5, and the other for EA Sports FC Mobile.

ALULA: As the Drone Champions League Super Final 2023 draws to a close, the Royal Commission for AlUla has announced the results, which were organized in partnership with Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones and the Saudi E-Sports Federation.

This was the first e-sports and professional drone racing competition of its kind, held at AlUla's Old Town auditorium, as part of the AlUla Moments festival.

The final day of the tournament on Saturday — hosted by the Saudi Esports Federation and presented by the Global Esports Federation — saw Kazakhstan win the Dota 2 Open, Malaysia take the Dota 2 Women title, and Jordan claim the eFootball 2024 competition.

SEOUL: Thousands of fans from around the world have descended on South Korea’s capital Seoul for the League of Legends world championship final on Sunday, widely considered the Super Bowl of e-sports.

First held in 2011, the League of Legends (LoL) world championship has rapidly grown to become one of the crown jewels of e-sports, which are globally forecast to attract audiences of nearly 1.4 billion by 2025.

South Korean powerhouse T1, who lost in last year’s world final, will take on China’s Weibo Gaming at the Gocheok Sky Dome, a 16,000-capacity baseball stadium.

RIYADH: UK Ambassador to ��Ƶ Neil Crompton has lauded a Saudi Esports Federation cooperation agreement with its British counterpart, which said the landmark partnership “will set new standards of excellence, education and innovation in the world of esports.”

The SEF signed the memorandum of cooperation with the British Esports Federation in the presence of Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, chairman of the board of directors of the SEF, and the UK ambassador this week.

RIYADH: Saudi team Twisted Minds won first place at the Gamers8 Club Awards, winning a cash award of $1.5 million.

The team, which was founded in 2020, triumphed with 81.87 points and received their prize on the first day of the second Next World Forum.

Mohammed Jebreen, facilities and purchasing manager of Twisted Minds Esport, told Arab News: “We participated in last year’s tournament (but) we didn’t do so great — we played one game only.

“In this tournament, we participated as a team in every game of Gamers8.
