DAMMAM: The Directorate General of Passports in the Eastern Province (EP) conducted over 2 million transactions during the last school vacation.
“The department recorded about 156,000 citizens’ passport transactions and 101,000 residents’ transactions,” said Muala Al-Otaibi, spokesman at the EP Passport Department.
Moreover, 1.9 million exit/re-entry operations were recorded by the ports, while the total number of deportees of the EP expatriates department reached 539, he said.
Al-Otaibi said the Saudi passport operations included printing, issuance and renewal. Electronic applications for travel permission were recorded at 756 from all Eastern Province cities and regions, with Dammam recording the highest number of 329 applications.
On the services and applications during the same period for EP residents, Al-Otaibi said they include residence issuance, renewal and printing, services transfer, profession change, exit/re-entry and other operations.
There were 816 final exit cases during the last vacation from Dammam, Alkhobar, Al-Ahsa, Hafr Al-Batin, Khafji, Jubail, Raas Tanura and Nairiyah, he said, adding that Aramco discharged 13 employees permanently.
Al-Otaibi said the number of crossing at the King Fahd Causeway port was recorded at 838,000, with a daily average of 83,000 people.
