RIYADH: The Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf) has renewed the cooperation agreement signed with the General Directorate for Prisons pertaining to training and employing Saudi prisoners during and after their prison sentence.
The development fund takes care of 50 percent of the prisoners’ wages — a maximum of SR1,000 per month.
A prisoner is supported according to the fund’s approved mechanism.
The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Al-Moaiqel, the fund’s director general, and Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Al-Hamzi, director general of prisons.
The agreement envisages the establishment of factories and workshops affiliated with prisons across the Kingdom.
These are expected to have an impact on the rehabilitation of a large number of prisoners during the jail terms and after their release by providing them with psychological and social support.
The signing of the agreement comes within the fund’s initiatives and plans in relation to rehabilitation programs and job training.
The fund launched a number of programs that aims to support efforts of nationalizing jobs, including prisoners’ jobs.
