Arrests made over Jazan khat smuggling attempt

JAZAN: The Saudi Border Guard in Jazan region arrested seven people on suspicion of attempting to smuggle 126 kilograms of khat.

The seven, all Ethiopian and Yemeni nationals, were referred to the relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, officials in Dhahran Al-Janub sector of Asir region thwarted an attempt to smuggle 13 kilograms of hashish. Preliminary legal measures were taken, and the seized narcotics sent to the appropriate government authorities.

Saudi security services urged citizens and residents to report any activities related to drug smuggling or trafficking. Informants can contact authorities by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Region, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom. They also can contact the General Directorate of Narcotics Control by telephone at 995 or via email at 995@gdnc.gov.sa.
