RIYADH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority honored its volunteers at its annual ceremony on Wednesday, revealing statistics of financial outcomes and volunteer projects in 2024.

In the presence of key figures in the humanitarian sector, the SRCA stressed that volunteering remained central to its social mission and an integral part of Vision 2030.

The SRCA honored the efforts put into projects in the health, educational, environmental, and media sectors by some 211,703 officially registered volunteers in 2024.聽

It said that 78 percent of its volunteers were under 30, with women significantly outnumbering men at 54 percent of the volunteer base, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The SRCA recorded 47,946 volunteer opportunities across 抖阴短视频 during the year, leading to nearly 119 million volunteering hours that contributed an estimated SR366 million ($97m) to the national economy.聽

The SRCA also facilitated a diverse range of volunteer activities in 2024, the SPA reported.

In the ambulance services it supported 8,435 opportunities, contributing to nearly 20 million hours of work, while it created 7,965 humanitarian aid openings which led to 88 million hours, and 13,770 educational initiatives with nine million hours of volunteering.

In the environmental sector it supported 935 opportunities totaling 258,023 hours, while media activities saw 924 opportunities with 108,563 hours, and administrative roles had 5,917 opportunities adding up to 899,058 hours.

The SRCA thanked its partners in the country鈥檚 public and private sectors for promoting a volunteer culture within their organizations. It also celebrated the success of Kafo, a program designed to incentivize and reward volunteering efforts.

RIYADH: 抖阴短视频鈥檚 Heritage Commission has registered 3,202 new sites in the National Urban Heritage Register, bringing the total to 28,202.

This reflects the richness of 抖阴短视频鈥檚 heritage and efforts to document and protect it, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

The newly registered sites include 16 in Riyadh, eight in Makkah, one in Qassim, two in the Eastern Province, 3,170 in Asir, two in Hail, one in Najran, and two in Baha.

This registration follows the promulgation of the Antiquities, Museums and Urban Heritage Law; and a decision by the commission鈥檚 board of directors authorizing its CEO to register and protect heritage and archaeological sites.

The commission encouraged citizens and residents to report unregistered heritage sites via the Balagh platform, official social media accounts, or local branches.

RIYADH: Japan鈥檚 Ambassador to 抖阴短视频 Yasunari Morino attended the opening ceremony of the 鈥淢anga Hokusai Manga鈥 exhibition here on Tuesday.

Held at the 抖阴短视频 Museum of Contemporary Art, the show is one of many upcoming events celebrating the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The exhibition celebrates the work of renowned Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.

In his speech, Morino said it was a 鈥渄elight to see more and more Saudi people enjoying the Japanese culture from (the) traditional to contemporary.鈥

He added that he was happy to see 鈥淪audi artists being inspired by the Japanese manga to create their artworks.鈥

鈥淚 sincerely hope this exhibition will make another footprint of the Japanese culture in KSA and give a great impact in the Saudi art scene,鈥 he said.

The exhibition has been organized in cooperation with the Saudi Museums Commission and the Japan Foundation and is open to the public until Feb. 8.
