Here are six authors who will present their latest work at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, to be held in Dubai from Jan. 29 – Feb 3, 2025. These literary figures explore themes of cross-cultural integration and identity in their books, all of which will be available at the festival.

The Saudi author will speak to the audience about his new book, “Anecdotes of an Arab Anglophile,” a witty, acerbic and thoughtful take on what it is like being an Arab in London.

The Iraq-born British former politician will talk about his memoir “The Boy from Baghdad” – an intimate look at his political career, as well as reflections on identity.

Emmy-award-winning US Syrian journalist Hala Gorani will discuss “But You Don’t Look Arab” – a chronicle of her career and her search for belonging.

Abraham Verghese
The US-Indian literary phenomenon, whose work is known for traversing national borders, will discuss his Oprah Winfrey-approved bestseller “The Covenant of Water,” which tells the moving story of a family saga set in Kerala, India.

The bestselling author will bring to the stage her new book, “As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow,” a coming-of-age novel set against the backdrop of Syria’s civil war.
