Arab films submitted for award gory at the 2025 Oscars

These films have been submitted for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Academy Awards.

  • Egypt

    Hani Khalifa-directed “Flight 404” is the country’s official submission. Like all the films in this list, this means that the film will be considered for the shortlist. If the movie gets shortlisted, it could then get nominated for an Academy Award.

  • Morocco

    “Everybody Loves Touda,” directed by Nabil Ayouch, tells the story of a single mother and dancer who faces unwanted attention.

    Chakib Taleb-Bendiab’s debut feature “Algiers” follows the kidnapping of a young girl in the Algerian capital.

  • Palestine

    A collection of 22 short films by Gazan filmmakers, “From Ground Zero” is led by filmmaker Rashid Masharawi.

  • Jordan

    Filmmaker Azza Hourani’s “My Sweet Land” centers on 11-year-old Vrej, who dreams of becoming a dentist in his village in Artsakh, in an area long embroiled in conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

  • Iraq

    In “Baghdad Messi,” Sahim Omar Kalifa turned his 2012 short film into a feature that follows a child who lost his leg during the US invasion of Iraq.
