Management departments oscillate between making and breaking skills

Facility management has a crucial role in achieving success and stability in an organization.

On the one hand, effective and distinguished management enhances the productivity of the team and team spirit, so leading to the desired goals being achieved.

On the other hand, bad management could have devastating consequences, for employees or the organization as a whole.

Here, I explain the impact of management on employees’ performance, as well as ways of building the skills or degrading those of even the good employees depending on the management methods.

In organizations with bad management practices, employees experience job dissatisfaction and high levels of negative emotions. Bad management patterns may include miscommunication, lack of interest in employees, poor guidance and weak support.

Such patterns could lead to employee nonchalance and an inability to use their full potential. As a result, the employees’ overall performance declines.

Even the strongest employees may break down as a result of bad management. In fact, employees with high competency, skills and dedication may lose the enthusiasm to develop themselves to accomplish greater achievements because of the management that is killing their passion.

At the end of the day, some great employees could end up losing their abilities without even noticing, and eventually find themselves disorganized as they go along with their organization’s bad management.

In the opposite scenario, good management has a crucial role in building a good network of employees, as it relies on effectively guiding and encouraging them.

Successful management provides employees with clear performance appraisal, positive feedback, support for development, and is interested in creating a positive and motivating work environment that improves collaboration with better interaction among employees.

Such managers consider employees as valuable assets and invest in their development. It offers them opportunities for professional training and provides them with the necessary resources for personal growth and development.

Such a model of management encourages creativity and innovation and gives employees the confidence they need to succeed.

Good management in the long run can raise even the weakest employees to the top. For instance, receiving the necessary guidance and encouragement helps employees discover their true potential and develop their skills, awakening their desire to succeed and outdo themselves.

In conclusion, effective and successful management has a crucial role in achieving organizational success. While successful management builds and develops employees as it contributes to achieving individual and collective success, bad management negatively affects employees as it breaks down their abilities and passion.

So, organizations must invest in developing management skills and promoting a positive management culture to ensure the best performance from employees, and the prosperity of the organization as a whole.
