The Saudi production company Manga Productions and the Japanese company Toei Animation revealed in Tokyo on Saturday that the second season of “Future Folktales” will air this year, four years after the premiere of the first season.
The anime tells the story of an old woman named Asmaa, played by renowned Japanese voice actress Masako Nozawa, who tells Arab folktales to her three grandchildren. The first season garnered over 100 million worldwide views.
The Saudi company revealed the Japanese and Arabic posters at Manga Productions’ booth at AnimeJapan 2024, one of the biggest anime conventions in Tokyo.
The second season will take place in the Saudi industrial city of NEOM, specifically in Oxagon, which was announced in 2020 as part of Manga Productions’ exclusive deal with NEOM.
Manga Productions and Toei Animation collaborated previously on the 2017 animation “The Woodcutter’s Treasure” and the 2021 movie “The Journey.”
The Japanese animation production company is also collaborating with Ƶ’s Qiddiya Investment Co. to build the .
