JEDDAH: A Saudi delegation representing the government and private sector is taking part in the World Radiocommunication Conference, which opened in Dubai on Monday.
The Kingdom鈥檚 involvement aims to enhance the use of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits for international mobile communications, air and maritime transport services, radio services and meteorology.
The delegation is led by Mohammed Altamimi, governor of the Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission.

鈥淭he Kingdom is actively engaged in the World Radiocommunication Conference #WRC23, represented by a diverse delegation from both government and private sectors,鈥� he said on X.
鈥淭heir active involvement includes allocating frequencies for emerging technologies, presenting innovative solutions with a focus on sustainability, and strategically enhancing their influence on satellite services, thereby impacting the global economy.鈥�
Organized by the International Telecommunication Union, more than 4,000 people from 190 countries are expected to attend this year's event, whose aim is to explore global enhancements in the efficient use of radio-frequency spectrum.
They represent telecommunications regulatory bodies, technology firms and governments.
The WRC is an international conference held every four years to unify efforts and discussions on the distribution of radio-frequency spectrum for wireless communications.
This year鈥檚 event runs until Dec. 15.
