Amira Hass is an Israeli journalist and author widely recognized for her vocal support for the Palestinian cause.
In response to what she saw as insufficient reporting on the First Intifada in Israeli media, Hass achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Israeli journalist to reside among Palestinians on a full-time basis. This distinctive encounter inspired her to author several books detailing her experiences.
The daughter of two Holocaust survivors, Hass has faced threats, harassment, and detentions for her critical writings on the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestine.
Her courageous journalism has earned her numerous awards, including a world press freedom hero award from the International Press Institute, the Golden Dove of Peace prize, and a lifetime achievement award from the International Women’s Media Foundation.
