Makkah deputy governor to honor winners of King Abdulaziz Qur’an competition on Wednesday

RIYADH: The Deputy Governor of Makkah Prince Badr bin Sultan will honor the winners of the King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an on Wednesday evening.

Prince Badr will honor the winners on behalf of King Salman after the Isha prayer, the last prayer of the day.

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance Abdullatif Al Al-Sheikh expressed his appreciation for the Saudi leadership’s constant support for the competition, and said it is a testimony to the Kingdom’s efforts to care for the teachings of the holy Qur’an.

He said the competition motivates Muslim youth around the world to memorize the Quran, and contributes to raising a generation that adheres to the teachings of the holy book and the example of Prophet Muhammad.

Over 160 contestants from 117 countries participated in this year’s competition that has a prize pool of SR4 million ($1,066,361).
