Saudi authorities thwart airport drug-smuggling bid

RIYADH: Officers from the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recently thwarted two attempts to smuggle more than 4.5 kilograms of cocaine into the country, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During an airport security inspection, several parcels entering the Kingdom via express transport were found to contain the drugs.

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
