Jockey Club of Ƶ announces $266k Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Cup

  • 2nd edition of race to take place at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Saturday

RIYADH: The Jockey Club of Ƶ has announced the hosting of the second edition of the Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Cup at the grounds of King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Saturday.

The race will take place over a distance of 2,100 meters, with the participating field of local and foreign horses vying for purse of almost SR1 million ($270,000).

Ziyad Al-Muqrin, CEO of the club, highlighted the importance of the cup in the world of horse racing, saying: “The cup bears a great name. It raised the flag of its country high in the world of horse racing, provided the biggest prizes, and introduced a constellation of horses whose victories still reverberate to the present day.”

Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman was the owner of Juddmonte Farms and one of the world’s most prominent international horse owners and producers of the past four decades. Among his horses were names like Frankel, Arrogate and Enable.
