RIYADH: Beneficiaries of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s (KSRelief) humanitarian efforts in Yemen continue to grow, with needy residents benefiting from food missions and medical relief aid.
In Hadhramaut governorate, the center – together with the Noor ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ volunteer program – implemented a medical program to combat blindness and related diseases, and managed to serve 6,042 patients, perform 400 surgeries and distribute 1,288 glasses.
The campaign was part of the Saudi relief agency’s effort to target blindness among low-income families not only in Yemen but other countries as well.
In Marib governorate, KSRelief distributed over the weekend 119 tons and 840 kilograms of food baskets as part of its food security project this year, which aims to give out 192,000 food baskets and 20,000 tons of food to families in 15 Yemeni governorates.
Meanwhile, KSRelief’s mine-clearing operations in the war affected country during the third week of September managed to disarm 1,075 explosive ordnances that were planted by the Houthi militia.
A total 12 anti-personnel mines, 308 anti-tank mines, 751 unexploded ordnance and four explosive devices were rendered safe during the operation, bringing the total to 358,863 since de-mining activities started in the country.
