KSRelief program supports food security efforts in northwest Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has continued distributing food items among people in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday. 

In April, KSrelief launched a project to support food security in Pakistan this year, aiming to distribute 75,000 food packages across the South Asian country in collaboration with the Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). 

The project falls under the umbrella of different humanitarian initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Ƶ to assist needy families and achieve food security in Pakistan.

“2,070 food baskets were distributed benefiting 14,490 individuals from neediest groups, widows, orphans and people with disabilities,” the SPA reported. 

“This aid comes within a food security support project being implemented by the center in Pakistan to alleviate the suffering of the needy and affected people.”

With one of the largest humanitarian aid budgets in the world, KSrelief has been working in 46 countries. Pakistan is the fifth-largest recipient of its assistance and has received more than $117.6 million in aid since 2005. 

With international, regional and local partners in place in recipient countries, KSrelief has delivered assistance to millions of beneficiaries worldwide.
