Omar Batterjee is currently the head of communications, marketing and partnerships at the Saudi Esports Federation, which he joined in January 2021.
Batterjee has built up, in a short time, the federation’s communication, marketing, and partnerships departments by developing policies, procedures, and structures for future operations.
In addition, he is putting together a team that will take an active role in the federation’s efforts to develop ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s national gaming strategy and promote the growing field of esports.
Previously a consultant at Hill+Knowlton Strategies in Riyadh, Batterjee served as an adviser to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵn Ministry of Sports where he managed the communications for global projects including the 2018 and 2019 Formula E Diriyah E-Prix races.
During his time at Hill+Knowlton from 2018 to 2020, he worked with the federation to manage the communication for the 2020 Gamers Without Borders online esports and gaming event.
Prior to that post, Batterjee was also part of MEMAC Ogilvy’s public relations team from May to November 2017.
At MEMAC, Batterjee worked with the Jeddah-based Aloula nonprofit organization that focuses on child scientific development.
He also worked on multiple accounts including for global brands Johnson Controls, SEDCO Holding Group, and several of its subsidiaries.
Batterjee received his bachelor’s degree in communications from George Mason University in the US.
During his stint at the university, he worked as a teaching assistant for public speaking courses, an outreach intern at Learning Life educational nonprofit, and assistant director of public relations for the Saudi political science association.
Batterjee was awarded the distinguished delegate award at the 2016 Model Arab League organized by the national council on US-Arab relations at Georgetown University.
He is also a member of the Middle East Public Relations Association Youth Board and the winner of the 2020 MEPRA Dave Robinson Award for Outstanding Young Communicator of the Year.
