January 27: The Diplomat reported that on January 2, Taliban Ministry of Defense spokesman Enayatullah Khwarazmi condemned Pakistan’s fencing of its border with Afghanistan as “illegal.” Khwarazmi said Pakistan has “no right” to separate the Pashtun tribes that live on either side of the Durand Line.
