Mutlaq Al-Buqami is the founder and editor-in-chief of Maaal Business News site, an electronic news site that covers Saudi financial and economic news. Launched in 2012, Maaal mainly covers economic and technological news and developments in the region, with a specific focus on ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. 

Al-Buqami is a former business editor at the leading pan-Arab daily newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, based in London, and its sister publication Eqtisadiyah, a dedicated business daily in ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ.

Al-Buqami was also the last editor of Shams (Sun), a short lived Saudi tabloid that was published between 2005 and 2012.
