DUBAI: Al-Wasl Plaza at Expo 2020 Dubai was on Thursday presenting two “immersive” shows as part of its scheduled three weekend performances.
The first, at 18:50 p.m. (UAE time), will be a 12-minute experience paying tribute to the Emirati poet Ousha bint Khalifa Al-Suwaidi with guests being taken on a journey into the mind of a 12-year-old girl, and witnessing a speaking moon.
The second show, titled Harmony, will follow at 20:30 p.m. featuring a glowing ocean fantasy brought to life through 252 laser projections onto the dome’s surface.
Mr. Scrap Returns is a 20-minute show scheduled for Friday at 18:40 p.m. and geared toward parents and children through its two main characters, Rashid and Latifa.
Al-Wasl structure connects the three thematic districts of the Expo site, namely sustainability, mobility, and opportunity with its name also meaning connection and being the historical name for Dubai.
The dome’s trellis framework is made of steel and took more than 800 engineers and technicians 14 months to complete. It is 130 meters wide, 67 meters tall, and weighs more than 500 tons. The plaza stands near the UAE pavilion and Dubai Metro.
