DUBAI: Cannes Lions, the advertising industry’s biggest awards show, has announced all the winners for 2020 and 2021.

Following the cancelation of last year’s ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, winners for both years were announced together.

The awards were presented at a virtual ceremony concluding the event, which took place from June 21 to 25.

“Over the past five days we’ve seen the return of the global creative benchmark, and the winning work that sets the bar for the entire industry,” said Simon Cook, managing director, LIONS, during the virtual show.

Agencies from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region brought home more than 20 awards.

FP7 McCann was in the lead with seven awards including two silvers and five bronzes across five categories. Impact BBDO came in right after with six trophies predominantly for its campaign “The New National Anthem Edition” for An Nahar Newspaper, which won silver and bronze in the Publishing category, gold and silver in the Brand Experience and Activation category, as well as a silver for Sustainable Development Goals.

Memac Ogilvy and Leo Burnett also won Golds with “Buy Your Time” for IKEA and #Safetyforsafekeeper “Baklava Got Legs.”

“We’ve seen inspirational talks, taken part in learning programs, celebrated creative excellence through our award shows and debriefs — and come together as a community, united in the belief that creativity has the power to build business, shape society, and change the world for the better,” Cook said.

Among the special awards, WPP won Holding Company of the Festival; FCB won Network of the Festival; AMV BBDO, London, UK won Agency of the Festival; and Burger King won Creative brand of the Festival.
