Snapchat launches new shows for Ramadan

DUBAI: Snapchat has announced its new slate of shows for Ramadan 2021, which will bring more content from Discover partners to the app.

Snapchatters will have access to 60 new shows curated in partnership with broadcasters, digital publishers, and creators in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Discover partners have created shows such as 鈥淩obe鈥�3 Nejmeh鈥� from Rotana Group; 鈥淎zma bel 3azba鈥� from Dubai Media; and creators鈥� shows including 鈥淣oor Stars鈥� and 鈥淏anen Stars鈥� from Diwan Group; 鈥淟a Tagoolha鈥� from the Saudi Broadcasting Authority; 鈥淟ovin Saudi Ramadan Eats鈥� from Augustus; 鈥淎nasala Family鈥� from Alfan; and 鈥淐osmo Mukbang鈥� from ITP.

鈥淧eople are spending more time on social and communication platforms nowadays, and are becoming more engaged with mobile content. A large number of our audience in the region are using Snapchat every day,鈥� said Fahad Alkhamisi, Head of Digital Media at Saudi Broadcasting Authority.

Snapchatters in the region claim that they will spend 30 percent more time on their social and communication apps this Ramadan compared to last year, leading to these platforms creating more content for the holy month.

Snapchat currently has a monthly addressable reach of 67 million in MENA and 18 million in 抖阴短视频 alone.

In Ramadan 2020, Snapchatters in the UAE, 抖阴短视频, and Kuwait, spent 77 minutes daily on the app on average. In 抖阴短视频, more people watch content on Discover than on any of the other top 10 TV channels.

鈥淧eople want to consume content on their mobile phones and at their own convenience.
