RIYADH: Al-Ahli coach Vladan Milojević has given his employer three days to pay his outstanding salary before he walks out on the Jeddah club, according to a report in Arabic-language sports newspaper Arriyadiyah.

At the start of March, the Serbian coach sent a letter to the club demanding the late payment of three months’ wages. He is reportedly ready to unilaterally break his contract with Al-Ahli if the dispute is not settled in the coming days.

The club is said to have made contact with Milojević on Sunday but no resolution was reached.

The coach is expected to explore his legal options, and he will make an official complaint if that matter is not settled.

The matter came to a head prior to Al-Ahli’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Nassr on Thursday, March 11. In a meeting with members of the club’s board, it was suggested that Milojević’s contract be terminated by mutual consent, meaning the coach would walk away without the financial compensation he believes he is entitled to.

Al-Ahli lost that match 2-1 and the following one 4-1 at Al-Fateh. The club now finds itself seventh in the SPL standings after a catastrophic run of five consecutive defeats, and seven matches without a win.

Should Milojević be sacked without a settlement, he would be entitled to be compensated for the duration of his contract, which runs out at the end of current season.

The club did not comment on the matter when approached by Arriyadiyah.
