Dr. Yasser Mahir Al-Jehani has been the executive director general of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Medical City in Madinah since February.
The Council of Ministers recently approved the conversion of three hospitals in Madinah — the general hospital, the obstetrics, gynecology and children’s hospital, and the Al-Amal Complex for Mental Health — into one medical city, with a total capacity of up to 1,246 beds.
Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah appointed Al-Jehani in mid-February to manage the city.
Al-Jehani received a bachelor’s degree in medical sciences from the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain in 2000. He got a M.D. master’s degree from the same university two years later. In 2013, he obtained a thoracic surgery fellowship at Canada’s Dalhousie University.
He has been a senior registrar and assistant professor of thoracic surgery at the University of Dammam since 2009.
He was a consultant at King Fahd Hospital of the University at the Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University and, in 2014, chaired the university’s surgery department.
Al-Jehani, who has had research and studies published in several medical journals, has been a member of numerous scientific and professional societies and organizations, such as the European Society of Thoracic Surgeon, the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, the Eastern Province Thoracic Surgery Club, the Eastern Province Obesity Club, the Gulf Chest Club, the Surgical Club of Eastern Province, Saudi Thoracic Society, and the Saudi Cancer Foundation.
He has also taken part in many specialist conferences in the Kingdom and overseas.
