DUBAI: European members of parliament voted on a draft resolution condemning Ankara as tensions between Turkey and the European Union continued, Al-Arabiya TV reported.
The vote was made by an absolute majority, Al-Arabiya correspondent said.
The decision calls to urgently impose sanctions against Turkey in response to its actions in Cyprus and its territorial waters, as well as its actions elsewhere in the eastern Mediterranean and its disagreements with Greece, Germany and France.
European leaders also called for maintaining a unified position against what it called Turkey's “unilateral and illegal actions,” while considering imposing sanctions against specific Turkish parties.
