RIYADH: The Saudi foreign minister on Monday appealed to the international community to take note of Iran’s belligerence in the Middle East.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan said Iran’s repeated violations of international treaties, its interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries by sponsoring sectarian militias, and its threats to the international maritime navigation are the root cause of the current regional tensions.
The foreign minister was speaking at a seminar titled “Strategic dialogue and cooperation between the GCC and the Federal Republic of Germany.”
The GCC Secretariat General and the German-Arab Friendship Association organized the online event as part of preparations for the second Gulf-German Dialogue Forum.
Prince Faisal said the GCC countries seek to enhance cooperation with Germany in all spheres of life.
“These seminars and forums serve as platforms to exchange ideas between the two sides on various issues of common interest particularly in the fields of politics, security, and economy,” he said.
The G20 group’s responsibility lies in investing in the current cooperation to empower humans, lay the foundations for a better future, and design sustainable economic policies.

The foreign minister said the constructive cooperation between the GCC and Germany necessitates institutionalizing coordination on international and regional issues.
Highlighting the importance of GCC’s role for regional and international peace and stability, he urged all international partners “to take into consideration the causes of the current tension in the region.”
He said the GCC countries are situated in a region embroiled in conflicts caused by regional powers that are unable to tap into their national potentials and seek to destabilize neighboring states.
Prince Faisal said the Kingdom attaches great importance to strengthening ties with the international community and work with it to face global challenges. He said the Kingdom’s hosting of the G20 summit is a testimony to its approach based on cooperation.
“The G20 group’s responsibility lies in investing in the current cooperation to empower humans, lay the foundations for a better future, and design sustainable economic policies,” the minister said.
