Egypt vaccines ready for clinical trials

CAIRO: There are two Egyptian coronavirus vaccines ready for the first phase of clinical trials, said Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.

Egypt has worked on four vaccines since the emergence of COVID-19, he added.
The Ministry of Health and Population recently announced that it is conducting clinical trials in the third phase for two vaccines in cooperation with Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm Group.
The ministry is cooperating with Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech for vaccine production and transfer of manufacturing technology.
Ministry spokesman Khaled Mujahid said a World Health Organization (WHO) delegation visited Egypt to assess the country’s vaccine-production capability in terms of quality and capacity, according to WHO standards.
