DUBAI: Coronavirus infections continue to rise in the UAE, with 1,231 new confirmed cases reported overnight by the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The health ministry is continually expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment, state news agency WAM reported.

An 117,812 additional COVID-19 tests have been conducted over the past 24 hours, WAM added. The number of coronavirus-related fatalities also rose to 426 with two deaths reported overnight.

The UAE’s caseload now stands at 97,760, with the total number of recoveries pegged at 87,122.
