RIYADH: Saudi health authorities announced 28 deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the Kingdom’s death toll from the virus to 4,165.
A total of 775 new cases were also announced, with 54 in Dammam, 51 in Makkah, 45 in Jeddah, 40 in Hafouf and another 40 in the capital Riyadh, among the cities with the highest count.
The total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom has reached 323,012, with 19,881 active cases and 1,386 in a critical condition.
Assistant Minister of Health and the Ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammed Al-Abd Al-Aly, said that “the additional waves of any epidemic are due to indolence and we hope that they do not happen.”
He added that the situation in the Kingdom are “moving in a positive direction and in a downward decline.”
He said of 775 new registered consist of 57 percent males and 43 percent females, and is made of 86 percent adults, 10 percent children and the elderly are four percent.
According to the ministry, 720 patients have recovered from the disease over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 298,966.
The coronavirus pandemic has affected over 27 million people globally and the death rate has almost reached 900,000.
