LONDON: Iraq announced 107 more deaths from COVID-19 and 2,415 new cases of the disease on Wednesday.
Of the new cases, 341 and 235 were recorded in Baghdad’s Al-Rusafa and Al-Karkh districts respectively. Southern Iraq’s Dhi Qar province recorded 252 new cases and Diwaniya 185.
The total number of recoveries in the country increased to 26,267 after 1,507 more patients recovered from the virus.
A total of 2,050 people have succumbed to the virus in Iraq so far.
Meanwhile, doctors in Iraq are complaining of unpaid salaries, mask shortages and threats from patients’ families as they face a long-feared spike in coronavirus cases.
