- Reiterates full support and solidarity with the Kingdom against external threats
- Houthis fired eight drones and three ballistic missiles at Riyadh in wee hours of Tuesday
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday strongly condemned the drone attacks by Houthi militia on Saudi territory, calling for an immediate stop to such aggression, according to an official handout by the foreign office.
“Pakistan strongly condemns multiple missile and drone attacks toward Riyadh, Najran and Jazan by the Houthi militia,” the statement read. “Islamabad call for immediate cessation of these attacks.”
Appreciating the successful interception of missiles and drones, which prevented the loss of innocent lives, Islamabad reiterated “full support and solidarity with Ƶ against any threats to its security and territorial integrity,” the statement added.
Arab Coalition Spokesman, Col. Turki Al-Maliki, said on Tuesday that the coalition intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile targeting Riyadh and that Houthis had launched eight drones and three ballistic missiles toward the city between late Monday and early Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, Al-Maliki said the Houthi militia “launched a number of unmanned (booby-trapped) drones at civilians and civilian objects” from Sa’dah in Yemen. Two were targeting Najran and the other was targeting Jazan.
Yemen’s Houthi rebels have launched hundreds of missiles and drones across the border into Ƶ in recent months targeting military installations and civilians alike in the bordering region, as well attempting to strike the capital.
Most of the attacks were intercepted and foiled by the Saudi air defense system.
