JEDDAH: With 1,881 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the total number of cases in the Kingdom has reached 87,412 on Monday.
The Saudi Health Ministry said there are currently 22,311 active cases in the Kingdom.
Officials announced that 1,864 patients had recently recovered from COVID-19, taking the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 64,306.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ has so far conducted 838,623 tests for COVID-19. On Monday, 22 deaths were reported raising the toll due to COVID-19 to 525.
Sign language service
The Saudi Ministry of Health has launched the first phase of a new sign language interpretation service at its 937 call center.
The Ishara (meaning sign) mobile app is dedicated to deaf and hearing-impaired people and is aimed at improving their access to the center’s services. It is available free of charge via Apple Store and Google Play.

The current phase of the initiative includes 24-hour general inquiry services, booking of appointments at health care facilities, and medical consultations.
The app introduces the interpreter as a third party or mediator between the center’s phone operator and the app user. They are required to interpret the sign language into spoken Arabic language and vice versa.
The scheme is part of the ministry’s drive to ensure its services are accessible to all segments of society. The app has been provided by Elm Co. in partnership with the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
