Sultan AbuKoshaim has been the CEO of the National Metrology Program (TAQYEES) since January 2020 and is highly experienced in building business strategies and governance frameworks. He has also been an IT adviser to the governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) since the beginning of this year. In this role, his responsibilities include the development of digital transformation strategy, performance metrics and accountability for IT departments.
AbuKoshaim gained a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from King Saud University in 2001, an MBA from the University of Leicester in 2010, and a master’s degree in strategic information systems from Cardiff University in 2012. He also took part in Harvard Business School’s high-potential leadership program in 2015.
He started his career in 2001 as a security operations center supervisor with the Saudi Telecom Co. In March 2005, he joined Bank Albilad as a senior information security analyst. From September 2005 to July 2012, AbuKoshaim worked as the executive director of governance and information security for the Saudi Food and Drug Authority before joining the SASO as chief information officer and IT adviser to its governor.
He is also a member of the International Organization for Standardization’s IT strategy advisory group and has completed several certification courses in IT such as the Cisco Systems’ CCNA.
