LONDON: Thirteen people at a British care home for the elderly have died in one week after a coronavirus outbreak.
All of the deaths have been linked to COVID-19, The Scottish Sun reported. The deceased all had underlying health conditions.
Two workers at the home in Glasgow are being treated for the illness.
The cases come after the UK government said the country is probably a week away from the peak of the outbreak.
The latest figures on Friday said almost 40,000 cases have been recorded with the death toll of 3,605 now higher than China’s official figure.
A spokeswoman for Four Seasons Health Care, which runs the Burlington Court care home where the death occurred, said it had “strict protocols on infectious diseases.”
“Our condolences are with their families and we are providing them with our ongoing support during this difficult time,” she added.
