DUBAI: The UAE authorities said people who leave their homes during the day without good reason face a fine $544 – even outside curfew hours, state news agency WAM reported.
People are permitted to travel out to buy food or medical supplies, for emergencies and work.
The extended curfew comes as the national disinfection program continues. People are not allowed to leave their homes without a permit between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. local time.
Authorities announced they will be treating public spaces with a disinfecting chemical during those hours. The national program was previously tasked for last weekend, between March 26 and until morning of March 29.
But the government extended the national disinfection program until April 5. Â People found breaching the nighttime curfew face even tougher .
The UAE has 570 cases, three deaths and 58 recoveries.
