BURAIDAH: Prince Faisal bin Mishaal, gov. of Al-Qassim, chaired on Wednesday a meeting of the high commission for the 2020 Dakar Rally.
During the meeting at the governor’s offices, Prince bin Mishaal discussed preparations adopted by the governmental and security sectors for the event, which will kick off on Jan. 5.
The race will feature 360 contestants, with 180 bikes, 130 cars and 40 trucks.
Prince bin Mishaal praised the leadership’s support for the sports sector in the Kingdom and its commitment to becoming an effective competitor in world sport.
He said that hosting the Dakar Rally 2020 will allow young Saudis to enjoy motorsports, given the perfect location of the event.
The event was attended by high-ranking members of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Transport Ministry and others.
