LONDON: Lionel Messi has turned his wizardry on the football pitch to helping promote Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The Barcelona legend stars in a new promotional film in which he launches a football on a global journey of keepy-uppy.
The film, shot in the UAE, India, UK and Kenya, is aimed to spread the message of global unity and teamwork that is encapsulated in Expo 2020.
“A football team can only succeed by working together, and the same is true of humanity,” Messi, who was appointed an Expo 2020 ambassador in 2016, said. “When people from different nations, cultures and backgrounds come together we can better address global challenges and create a brighter future for generations to come.”
Sanjive Khosla, Deputy Chief – Sales and Marketing, Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “The new campaign video uses football to show that when we connect and collaborate, we can build a brighter tomorrow together.”
As part of the campaign, Expo 2020 will thousands of durable footballs to underprivileged children in Jordan, Kenya and the Philippines.
