Dr. Faisal bin Sultan Al-Subaie has been the undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment since July 2018, and deputy minister since May 2015.

Al-Subaie received a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at King Saud University in Qassim in 1988, and attained his master’s degree from the same university in 1995. He gained a Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension Education from Pennsylvania University in 2012.

From October 2010 to December 2014, Al-Subaie worked as vice dean of the College of Food and Agriculture Sciences for Development and Quality at King Saud University. He was then appointed vice dean of Graduate Studies for Development and Quality, a position he held until May 2015.

Speaking at the first joint meeting of Arab Water and Agriculture Ministers in Cairo on Thursday, Al-Subaie said: “The Kingdom has balanced policies between food and water security.”

Al-Subaie claimed that the Kingdom is about to achieve sustainable development — taking into account food and water security and guaranteeing development and resources for future generations.

Following the meeting, the ministers issued a joint statement calling for regional coordination between the agriculture and water sectors through the establishment of a permanent high-level joint committee and biennial ministerial meetings.
