Lt. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Amro has been the director-general of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ's General Directorate of Civil Defense since December 2013.
Prior to this role, he served in several positions at the directorate, including operations assistant, supervisor of safety, investigation, and training in the Qassim region.
He also served as the director of Civil Defense centers in the Qassim region.
Al-Amro has also been operations assistant in the Civil Protection Department, director of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and led the Civil Defense Forces during Hajj season.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Internal Security Forces College and a master’s degree from Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. He also attended a training program at the Civil Defense Institute.
Al-Amro spoke at the International Fire Operations conference that was held in Bahrain last month.
The event was organized to mark International Civil Defense Day.
He revealed plans to enhance cooperation between firefighting organizations in Gulf states and set up a regional firefighting council to cover the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Al-Amro said the newly established council would aim to strengthen communications on fire-related matters between civil defense directorates in GCC countries and Saudi Aramco.
He said the General Directorate of Civil Defense is working to strengthen cooperation and communication with Saudi civil society institutions, to enhance precautionary measures against all risks and accidents.
