Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Ohali has been the rector of King Faisal University since April 2017.
Al-Ohali is also a member of the board of trustees of Prince Sultan University in Riyadh.
He was the director of a research initiative called “Aafaq” or “Horizons,” which is a 25-year plan intended to improve higher education opportunities for women, boost scientific research and tackle the country’s shortage of scientists in critical fields. The initiative was announced in 2009 by the Ministry of Education.
Moreover, he served as the dean of the faculty of graduate studies at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran (KFUPM).
He also was the vice dean of graduate studies and the undersecretary in charge of the deanship of scientific research, and the general coordinator of the Basic and Applied Research Program in the Research Institute at KFUPM.
He holds a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from the US.
King Faisal University, represented by the faculty of medicine, is organizing the International Conference on Hematology which is opening on Tuesday. The three-day gathering is being held in collaboration with the professors of the Center for Hematology and Schizophrenia at Boston University, US.
Al-Ohali said that the conference will be attended by senior international doctors specializing in blood diseases.
The conference aims to reflect on the efforts of the university and its faculty of medicine in sharing experience and keeping abreast with the global developments in the diagnosis and treatment of related diseases.
