December 3 – The Wall Street Journal report by Saeed Shaha and Dion Nissenbaum states that President Trump is making a personal appeal to Pakistan’s new prime minister to help end the war in Afghanistan as one of his special envoys returns to the region to try and lay the groundwork for substantive peace talks with the Taliban-led insurgency.
