JEDDAH: The General Culture Authority (GCA) is participating in the 10th Cultural Forum “China’s Visions,” organized by the Culture Ministry in China. The Saudi participation is represented by Taghreed Al-Baqshi, nominated by the authority to showcase her talent and perform for the Chinese audience, seeking to present the true Saudi culture, its advancement and diversity.
The events include an artistic historical and cultural program to introduce the heritage and history of China, and a visit to the city’s landmarks and to the artists’ events, as well as to universities, academies and museums in China. The events will also highlight cultural exchange.
The Saudi artist Al-Baqshi’s participation includes an international workshop titled “China in the eyes of Arabs,” which will be accompanied by work from the most important artists. The workshop will last until Sept. 12. The end of the workshop will feature special shows by each artist for the Chinese culture ministry, to promote the Chinese-Arab ties and cultural exchange.
The authority’s nomination comes in the context of granting artists the opportunity to become artist ambassadors of their countries, to stress the important role of arts in international relations and in bringing people together.
