DUBAI: The Saudi embassy in the US warned its citizens on Monday of hurricane Florence that is headed towards North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

The embassy published a statement in Arabic on the official twitter account, cautioning Saudi nationals in areas where the hurricane is expected to hit, to be “alert” and to “be careful.”

Florence was about 1005 km southeast of Bermuda on the early hours of Monday. The storm had winds of around 168 kmph and was moving west-northwest at about 14 kmph, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

The center of the hurricane is expected to approach the southeastern coast of the US on Thursday as a Category 3 storm or higher, according to the hurricane center.
