JEDDAH: The Tunisian city of Oued Melliz celebrated the delivery of 18 housing units built with the help of the Saudi Fund for Development on Friday. The units are part of a $150 million soft loan provided by the fund, which aims to build around 4,600 units in different regions of Tunisia for people on low incomes.
Mohammed Saleh Al-Arfaoui, Tunisian minister of equipment, housing and territorial development, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Saudi government under the leadership of King Salman for its constant support and for standing by Tunisia on several occasions.
He also said that this project, which will benefit the needy, reflects the great generosity that characterizes the Saudi government.
The governor of Jendouba, the northern governate where Oued Melliz is found, expressed the gratitude of the people of the province for the Saudi government’s support and its financing of this project. He noted that this gesture does not come as a surprise, for every time Tunisia asks something of the Kingdom, it receives more.
For his part, the Saudi Ambassador to Tunisia Mohammed bin Mahmoud Al-Ali congratulated the families benefiting from the project.
He also highlighted the Saudi Fund for Development’s commitment to complete all development projects it took on all over Tunisia, stressing that this occasion reflects the great improvement in Saudi-Tunisian relations in various fields.
