JEDDAH: The Saudi Embassy in Washington announced on Saturday that the attackers of two Saudi students have been arrested, according to state run news channel Al-Ekhbariya.
Majid Al-Muzaini, Saud Al-Shammari, and a colleague of theirs were attacked by an Arab gang a week ago following an argument over football, it was reported.
Al-Muzaini is still receiving treatment for internal bleeding at George Washington Hospital.
The Embassy said in a statement that it was in contact with investigators and prosecutors to find out particular details of the case.
The statement confirmed that the Embassy has appointed a lawyer to follow up the case with the prosecution, and that a preliminary hearing has been set for August 13 when charges will be presented against the defendants.
The Embassy also visited Majid Al-Muzaini in hospital and is following developments in the case.
