Amr Zedan is the chairman of the newly established Saudi Polo Federation; he was appointed this Monday.
He shared his feelings on his appointment saying: “It’s an honor to be appointed chairman. The plans of the Saudi government are visionary and collaborative: Having a global participation of the Saudi team and encouraging youth involvement. We are set to meet next week and hold the first board meeting. I look forward to continue the establishment of this federation with all our members.”
On Thursday, the BMG Foundation’s 22nd annual charitable GCC Polo Cup took place in partnership with Arab News, wherein members from European and Middle Eastern royal families come together to celebrate the equestrian event, with its proceeds going to charity.
The BMG Financial team, led by Prince William, Saudi star Amr Zedan and others, took on a Cambridge County Polo Club team, securing a 10-8 victory.
Zedan is also the chairman and CEO of the Saudi Zedan Group in Alkhobar.
The polo player was born in Los Angeles in 1974 while his parents studied at University of Southern California, and he moved back to Ƶ when he was “5 or 6.”
His father started Zedan Group, an engineering company that Zedan expanded on after joining it post graduation from the University of the Pacific in the US, turning it into an energy group.
Zedan was inspired by Richard Gere’s character in “Pretty Woman” whose character worked in the same field as him and still enjoyed the sport, and ever since he took to practicing polo and became a professional player, who has secured many regional cups since.
He is a member of the Young President Organization (YPO), and Young Arab Leaders, (YAL).
