LONDON: The Iranian opposition is sending a strong message of “hope and peace” against a regime of “conspiracies and violations,” the head of the Saudi American Public Relation Affairs Committee has said.
Speaking at a meeting near Paris of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on Saturday, Salman Al-Ansari lambasted Iran’s foreign policy in the region.
“The Iranian regime is a system based on conspiracies and violations against the safe and secure countries and peoples such as the Yemeni, Syrian, Lebanese or Iraqi people.”
He said even the Saudi city of Makkah had been the victim of a plot by the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s regime.
The event in Villepinte, was attended by Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and several former European and Arab ministers.
The NCRI is an umbrella bloc of opposition groups in exile that seek an end to clerical rule in Iran.
Al-Ansari, the founder and president of the Saudi American Public Relation Affairs Committee, said the efforts of the Iranian opposition would ensure that “the true face of Iran returned to what it used to be in the past — the cradle of great human civilizations.”
“Throughout your 53 years of heroic history of sacrifice … the great Iranian people have been subject to great and unprecedented oppression and injustice,” Al-Ansari said.
“Today is a victory for civilized and knowledgeable Iran. The Iran of civilization and humanity, Iran of science and culture, Iran of tolerance and brotherhood, not the Iran of Khomeini and Khamenei and Soleimani and Rouhani.”
On Monday, Belgian authorities said an Iranian diplomat was arrested along with two people suspected of plotting a bomb attack on the meeting, on Monday.
Three other arrests were made in France.
