MOSCOW: Egypt coach Hector Cuper said he expects Mohamed Salah to feature against Russia on Tuesday.
Salah was an unused substitute against Uruguay as Cuper did not want to take any chances following the forward star’s shoulder injury in the Champions League final.
But Cuper will now have to gamble on Salah as they could well be out of the tournament if they do not beat the hosts in their second Group A game.
“He did not play today because we wanted to avoid risk or danger but I think that he will be fine for the next match,” said the coach.
“Yesterday we were quite certain that he would play. At the end of training he was examined in depth and there was some doubt if he fell or was hit by another player.”
